Let's look at your home as a store. I worked several years in retail and along with finding my sweet husband there, I also learned many valuable lessons about merchandising, marketing, product placement, mark-ups, and other tricky things to help me be a more savvy shopper. I also learned a lot about inventory, product rotating, and other great things that are applicable to our own home food storage 'store.'
Do you use a cellar? A pantry? Cupboards? How do you keep track of what you do/don't have in stock? How do you know when you're running low on staple items? Do you have a system in place to rotate food based on expiration dates? How about toiletries? Medications? How often do you rotate these types of items to make sure that you are always using fresh products?
These are all subjects we are going to learn about and discuss over the next week or two. Please feel free to tell us about any systems you have in place that have been successful or experiences you have had that where systems you implemented maybe didn't work out so great? Please share!
