Today's Stinky but Wonderful Hunt!

I stink! Must take a shower! It was worth the effort though! I found several bags and boxes of goodies!
It has all been sorted and put away now, ready to be enjoyed or sold!
A huge pile of brand new and nearly new kids' books!
A lovely little jewelry box with little girl's jewelry. 2 Forever stamps! Colored pencils, sharpie marker, and magnet toy.
Pilates videos.
Nail polishes, hair pretties, a big road atlas.
Kid's wallet, board book, bike license plate, craft supplies, envelopes.
A bunch of kids jewelry crafting kits! Such an awesome find!!!
A little jewelry box including some ocean themed stamps!
 Plastic Easter eggs.
Brand new pack of baby seat belt covers. A little camera bag.
A bunch of Easter baskets and decorations.
 A really nice bear.
 Tons of gift bags!!
Girls' tights and socks, some baby clothes.
Two bags of stuffed animals. I'll need to wash them, and then I may keep one or two and then donate the rest.

Overall, an incredibly successful dive!

Fresh Market Clearance

I hit Fresh Market in Spanish Fork this morning.
These boneless steaks were about  a third of regular cost! The Pasta Roni was .50. The pizza crust and seasoning mix were just .25 each!
I don't often find such great deals on their clearance rack (located in the back right corner of the store) so I was pleased with these finds.
I will be hunting in a little bit. Stay tuned for my report!

Deal of the Day!

Today's deal is actually a coupon you just have to print!!

-$1.50/2 Bic stationary items, enter sweepstakes (Facebook) printable

This will equal either a FREEBIE or a MONEY MAKER in the next few weeks! I know that Fresh Market has Bic pens for just $.50 per pack! I don't know if they allow overage, but you can always ad match it at Walmart, as they do allow overage.
Enjoy!

Catching Up!

I have been so busy lately! I've managed to do a bit of shopping though! I hit Walmart on Tuesday:
I had coupons on everything and most of them were doubled. The Carefree's were online prints. You've probably noticed that the recent circular coupons now limit the size of Carefree you can get, eliminating the possibility of a FREEBIe! :(  I was happy to find these prints online with no size restrictions! :)
I used $1 off coupons on the Atkins bars.
The Enfagrow was a fabulous money maker!! I made almost $2 on that with yet another coupon they sent me in the mail! I just love those! So handy, especially when they're paying me to take them!
The Colgates earned me $.06 each with my doubled coupons.
The Barilla pasta were $.28 each with my doubled coupon. That one is still available, so get in there this Tuesday and stock up!
The Joy ice cream cups were $.49-.55 each with my online print coupons doubled. Such a great deal! I especially love the ones that are dipped in chocolate! Yum!

I also hit the new store in Provo, Lolo's the other day to see what they had to offer. I was lured in with their great mail coupons and my sister in law's high praises. I'm not going to say it's my new favorite, but it definitely had something to offer. I'll visit it again, especially if they continue sending out these great coupons!
Hot dog or hamburger buns $.45 each w/coupon (now expired)
Clover Club chips $1.24 each
John Morrell hot dogs $.68 each w/coupon (now expired)
Lay's potato chips $1.67 each w/coupon (now expired)
Dole Salad $.78 each w/coupon (now expired)
Bell pepper .50
Nectarines $.64/lb
Apples .78/lb
Grapes .99/lb
Tomatoes  I don't remember how much they were, but it was a great price. :)

So Lolo's is set up a lot like Winco except they bag your groceries for you. There doesn't seem to be a weekly ad, other than the coupon circular; again, like Winco. I'll keep y'all posted if I learn otherwise.
For now, I'd definitely recommend giving it a whirl. Have time to walk around and see what you see. Good luck and happy shopping!!

Macey's

I really didn't feel like doing anything today. I dragged myself and the kids out though and am so glad that I did! I hit Macey's and got some great deals!!

32 oz Shredded cheese $4.99 wyb 5
The discount doesn't come off immediately at the register. Make sure your cashier enters it!

5 doz medium Oakdell eggs $3.99

Valu Time Mac n' cheese 4/$1

Shur Saving 4 qt ice cream or sherbet $3.99

Land o Frost Deli Shaved meat 9 oz  $1.99

I also hit a couple of the schools on my diving route. I was coming up empty until I came to a school in Mapleton. I wasn't even going to bother looking after the first empty dumpster. So glad I went ahead and did it!
I found about 150 vhs videos!! Tons of Disney and other great shows. I actually still own a VCR and will keep a bunch of them for us. The rest I will likely sell 4/$1. I know vhs aren't the in thing anymore, but there was no good reason to throw them in the trash!! So glad I was there to rescue them!!

A Productive Weekend!

I did no shopping this weekend! I was busy though! James and I built my new shed! It is so wonderful!! We aren't building the front yet because I am saving to extend it another 7 feet. I have it blocked off though and no longer have to worry about my inventory getting wet! It is so wonderful and my husband is just so great!
I also spent tons of time on the fb indoor yard sale. I was able to clear out of a LOT of inventory and consignments! It was WONDERFUL!! I think this is the way I'm going to do things now!! No more sitting out in the hot sun all day, hoping for customers to show up! Well... I might still do that now and then. But mostly I will take advantage of the indoor avenue. So much less manual labor and just as much in the profits department!
Since I was able to move a lot of stuff, I am going to take a couple of days this week to hunt for more inventory! The summer is flying by and I missed out on a lot of hunting last week. If I want this to be an all year business, I will need to stock up on enough stuff to sell through the winter! Kind of feels like I'm a little squirrel gathering nuts....  :)
Stay tuned for the reports!

Sweaty but successful!!!

I went out on another scavenging/shopping mission today. Super pleased with how it went! Shopko was my first stop. I had to pick up a Rx. I grabbed some clearance potting soil for $1.49 per bag. They have all gardening supplies, including some lovely pots and healthy plants at super low clearance prices! I highly recommend checking it out! I need to fill one more rx before I get my $10 coupon. I'm going to put it toward clearance roses. Hopefully tomorrow!

Walgreen's was stop #2.
First I bought these two boxes of therapy tape for $6.99 each + tax. I bought them individually to get the $7 Register Rewards on each one.
After that, I bought all of this cereal:
They are on sale for $1.67 each. Use your -$1/2 couopns to get them for $1.17.
Made it less than $1.50 for all the cereal after coupons and rewards.

Next was a super quick stop at Ream's:
Wednesday only price on the Dole salad: $.89 each.
The 3lb Strawberries were just $1.25!!! Nice and fresh!

I passed 2 schools in Springville/Mapleton. Had to stop and see what they might have in their bins. So glad I did!
I found a whole big bag of soda cans in the recycling bins. And then, in the dumpsters...
Pudding, health shakes (none expired!), fresh apples, eye wash, saline, peroxide and a cute Victoria's Secret duffle bag.
 Tons of first aid supplies!!
Plenty of holiday and classroom goodies! Lots of stuff still in the wrappers!
This was a good trip. Mission accomplished!!

Tomorrow I am going to dedicate myself to painting the outside walls of my new shed so James can get it put together. So excited for the transition and how this will help the efficiency of my business!

Today's Adventures!

This was a busy, very productive day for me! I was babysitting and I like to do my hunting and shopping when I have all the kids. I know that seems strange, but it's nice to have them strapped in the van where I can semi-control the situation. :) We took several breaks at stores and parks and overall, it went well. I definitely had to remind myself a time or two why it is that I babysit... but I am ending the day with a smile.
First, my shopping:

I hit the Payson Smith's and though I didn't get much, I was pleased with the surprises I found.
Uncle Ben's Rice $.55 each (clearance)
-$1/4 Uncle Bens products (All You Magazine)= $.30 each
Barilla Mini Penne White Fiber $.44 each (close out)
-.75/2 any Barilla pasta (online print)= $.06 each!!!

The only other store I hit was the Payson Walmart for double coupons:
Barilla Whole Grain Pasta $1.28 each
-.55/1 any Barilla Whole Grain (doubled)= $.28 each!!
Bounty Basic Paper Towels $.97 each
-.25/1 any Bounty Paper Towels (doubled)= $.47 each
Rayovac Batteries $.97 each
-$1/1 Rayovac batteries (online print)= +$.03 each!!!
Colgate 4.6 oz Toothpaste $.96 each (dump bin)
-$1/1 any Colgate toothpaste 4.0+ oz = +$.04 each!!!

For today's hunting, I hit Salem and Payson. I got a few odds and ends here and there:
But at the park, in my lucky bin, I found a real jackpot! I had to put up with the smell of a bag of dead fish to get to these, but it was worth it! Yes, it is a sometimes gross job, but I love it!
BRAND NEW CLOTHES! And they don't stink! ;)
2 ladies dress Suits, 1 with the tags still on it!!
2 Blouses to go with the 2 suits. A really nice tweed blazer, and a lovely, light pair of pajama pants that I will be keeping for myself.
Oh the things people throw away! I always wonder what the story was....
There was also a brand new bra, still wrapped! Just happens to be my size!!! That can't be coincidence!! I had new bras on my running list. Now I have one less to buy and I couldn't be happier!
The suits and such are too big and I don't really wear that kind of stuff anyway, so I will be putting them on ebay. I just love these jackpot finds!!
Oh, and I don't think I mentioned this earlier, but I found a honey hole of coupon inserts again! Feeling so blessed!
Good night and happy hunting!

Can you switch?? Can I??

I'm spending the morning clipping, sorting, and filing my coupons for this afternoon's shopping/hunting adventure. As I'm sitting here, I am watching eco-friendly documentaries on Netflix. I always feel so inspired and motivated when I watch there. My latest inspiration is the idea of switching to chemical-free cleaning products. You could go as far as personal care products, but I like baby steps!
I'm thinking of starting with a couple of household cleaning supplies. Not only do these recipes save our environment, they are also a lot cheaper than buying store brands! Maybe you are getting them FREE with your coupons.. If money is your only motivation, than you probably won't switch. If you buy into the bigger picture however, you'll see the myriad benefits for ours and our children's future and it will be obvious that the change is worthwhile!!
In watching these shows, I think one of the toughest things to give up for me, will be air freshener sprays. I did not realize all the harmful chemicals they contained. Having breathing problems myself and also having a baby with the same, I know it is worth the effort of change!
This just seems like the natural next step for me and for my family. So this week I am going to put some of these recipes together and give them a try. I will report my findings! Feel free to try them right along with me!

Laundry Detergent Recipe:

Thoroughly stir together for 5 minutes and enjoy the results!  That’s it folks…seems too good to be true, but it is true indeed!
Use 1 Tbsp per load (or 2 Tbsp for heavily soiled loads).
Floor Cleaner Recipe:
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon liquid dish soap
2 gallons hot tap water
Mix & mop. No rinsing needed.
Glass Cleaner Recipe:
Ingredients
1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar
Instructions
Carefully mix together the three ingredients in a new empty spray bottle. Do not reuse a spray bottle that previously had another kind of cleaner in it, since the risk outweighs the potential savings. You should also label the spray bottle as glass cleaner and keep it safely stored where curious pets or children will not have access.

After sorting... a few tips

I got all of today's haul sorted and processed, did my online research and am super pleased at how well I did. There is potential for serious profit here! Gotta love when that happens!
I've been asked a few times what I am specifically looking for and how do I do when I've found it. For beginners, here are a few ideas of what to search for and why:
 Shipping Material:
I don't buy anything other than packing tape anymore. Envelopes and bubble wrap can regularly be found in the recycling bins.
Assorted Holiday Decor: I will never have to buy decorations again! And if you know me at all, you'll know that I love decorating for EVERY holiday!!!

Brand New in Package: I am always on the lookout for brand new items that are in original packaging. I also count on the opinions of others. My brother was over while I was sorting today. He saw this stainless steel bottle and was amazed, saying that these kinds of bottles were worth like $30. I looked on ebay and was pleased to find values of $25-$28!
You'll find many other things unopened! Sometimes you can even find the store they were sold in and return them for in-store credit or gift cards.
It is also much easier to sell brand new items online than used items. If it's still in the package, grab it!!
Books!!!! Oh books! I just love them! Especially text books. Yes, sometimes they will be worthless old books. Donate them. Save them from the landfill. Other times, you may find current books and the value is unbelievable!
Other books: I don't need to buy reading and activity books for my kids anymore. I get so many from recycling bins. They will be busy reading for a very long time! I also sell a lot of the ones I find. You never know when you'll find a collectible book! So grab them! At worst, you'll end up donating it or keeping it for your own enjoyment. At best, you'll find a treasure!
This "One Kitten for Kim" book is actually a nice little collectible. :)
Office Supplies: I have so many sharpie and dry erase markers! I've sold bunches of them online! It is crazy how many they throw out that are still perfectly good!
Notepads and notebooks, tape, push pins, paper clips and more! Why pay for them if you can get them free?? And why let such useful items go into the landfills???
Can it be sold?? Really, anything that can be reused or sold is worth grabbing! These are border decorations. A lot of them are still in original packaging. There are always going to be more teachers that need these supplies.
Craft Supplies: I have kids and we use a lot of the supplies that I find. I suggest putting together a box and filling it with the random supplies you find. It makes for a great rainy day sanity saver!
Electronics: Electronics are nearly always a safe bet. Even insignificant things are likely to earn you a little cash. I've found headphones galore, dvd players, discmans, calculators, adding machines, computer keyboards, cell phones, power cords and more. All great resell items!!!
Binders. If you hit the school bins in the summer, you will find SO MANY BINDERS!!! I have gazillions of binders! I sell them 4/$1 at my yard sales. Then, when summer is over, I donate the rest, knowing I will find oodles more the next summer!
More books. This pile alone that I found today has an online retail value of over $200!!! Just need to get them listed! *note: These types of items don't always sell the first time around. Be patient and persistent! Different people are looking all the time! Hang in there and it WILL pay off!!! I suggest ebay, amazon, and local news classified sites. Be sure to do your research before you list it. You want to price it right!
Here are just a couple other random things I found today. Things still packaged and such. Random can be good. Yard sales are made up of random! The bits and pieces add up! And honestly, you just never know what will sell.
I found a bunch of keys before and took them off their key rings, putting them all together in a bag. They sold right away at my last yard sale. It was just a hunch I had and it worked! Follow those hunches! People buy the craziest things!
If you do decide to start hunting, be enthusiastic (it will push you through the smelly times), and be PATIENT!! Not every run will pay off. Then again, the first bin might yield all kinds of treasure. It's a numbers game, fueled by persistence!
I also highly recommend being organized from the very beginning! You aren't going to make money if you don't even know what you have or what it's worth or where it even is! I've had to learn as I've gone along, developing new systems. I can hardly wait for my new shed to be done! I have it all planned out how I will set it up! Efficiency is key!
**When in doubt about an item, grab it!!**
