How to Pay for Christmas??

It's that time again!! How are we going to pay for Christmas?? So many people to get presents for and so many activities we want to take part in. It all costs money! Well, here are a few ways that I am making sure that our Christmas festivities do not cut into our regular family budget!

-Kmart

Have you filled any prescriptions at Kmart lately?? I am transferring 4 (the limit) prescriptions that I have to fill every month anyway, to Kmart's pharmacy. With every prescription transferred, you can get up to $25 on a Kmart gift card to use in store. Up to $100.00!!! How cool is that?? Especially if you are like me and have to spend that much every month on prescriptions anyway! Nice to get a bit of it back. I am using the gift cards to finish up our kids' gifts.
Ps. Kmart is not the only pharmacy that offers gift cards for transfers. I know Rite Aid does as well along with several others.

-Facebook Indoor Yard Sale Sites/KSL Classifieds, etc.

Do you have last year's winter clothes and boots that don't fit the kids this year? Or maybe seasonal dvd's and videos you can do without or have replaced with blu-ray? Maybe you bought some fun clearance ornaments last year and don't really need them. All of these items and more are great for the now popular and effective indoor yard sale sites on facebook. They are selling like hot cakes right now!! You can also hit the classified websites and craigslist, etc. Unused items that are taking up space in your home are a great source of Christmas money!

-Scrap Metal

This one is good all year long but now is a great time to do it! Right before the snow hits! Get all that scrap out of your yard and not only will you not have to think about it rusting all over your patio, but you will have extra cash in your pocket!

-Overage on coupons

There are so many great coupons this time of year that work beautifully with all the seasonal sales. One awesome thing that often results from this perfect storm, is the opportunity for overage! This requires buying your coupon items in bulk, so that the overage adds up and can then be used toward your gifts. The Payson Smiths, Walmart, and some Kmarts allow overage. Find out if your store does too and then gather up your coupons!!

Christmas, of course, is not all about the material gifts. It is about our Savior and His birth, a beautiful gift to the world. But let's be honest, we're gonna buy some stuff. So why not try to spend as little as possible?! And then, when you have all that out of the way, you will have the time and peace of mind to sit and enjoy your family and the glow of Christmas, without worrying about how you're going to pay off your credit cards!
Happy shopping, friends!!

Coolness!!

I just love my life! There are struggles and trials aplenty, but dang! The blessings are nearly drowning me! I just feel like crying today at how very blessed I am and how wonderful my life is. Just wanted to share that happiness with all of you! I hope you too are having a blessed day!

Now, let's get down to business! I will hopefully be hitting Smith's tomorrow (Kroger), so stay tuned for a report. The Payson store gets their delivery truck tonight, so they should be well-stocked tomorrow morning! Don't miss out on all the amazing stock up deals on the current mega 10 sale!!

Also, be sure you hop over to Kroger.com, log in, and load today's FREEBIE to your loyalty card! It looks like some kind of pita chips. I'm excited to give them a try! I missed the last couple of Friday FREEBIES and was totally bummed. I didn't let that happen this time and neither should you!

And finally, another money saving bit of awesomeness! My younger brother works for Macey's grocery store and has access to deals that are only available to employees. He totally made my day today when he informed me of some stock up goodies that had just hit their sell by date and were being sold for just $1.00 per case!! Holy awesome!!
Now, I don't mean to taunt you, my friends, with this awesomeness. Instead, I want to encourage you to put the word out that you are someone who is looking for amazing deals! Put the word out to family, friends and neighbors; that way when they happen upon a deal, they will think to let you know! I've gotten so many amazing deals that way!

Again, my friends, I am blessed. I hope that some of this extra happiness I am feeling today will drift out over the internet to you!

More Great Savings! Shopko Clearance!!

Friends!! What an exciting evening I have had! For two hours, the kids and I scoured every inch of the toy, clothing, and clearance holiday sections at the Spanish Fork Shopko, plus the Christmas section! And here's the coolest part: they were so well behaved!!! I still can't believe how great they were! It probably helped that a lot of our focus was on what neat things they wanted to add to their Christmas lists... :)
There are tons of great clearance and sale priced toys. Tons!! And not just silly crap. It's all the stuff that kids are wanting right now. My girly girl was quite enthusiastic. :)
In the women's clearance clothing, I scored big time on lots of cute, trendy clothing. Part of my continuing "I care about me" campaign. Mommy deserves to have cute clothes that fit! ;)
The fall/Halloween clearance is spread out in a couple different parts of the store. I found so many cute little gems at ridiculous, better than the dollar store prices!! Check it out!!!
Not only that, I had earned my $10 pharmacy coupon and put it toward all the goodies I found! I was going to save it to put toward Christmas presents but decided that this time, Mommy's stuff was more of a necessity! :)
Such a good evening! I always love my kids, but sometimes, like now, I really like them too! ;)

A bit of shopping

I've hit Payson twice, Thursday and also this morning. As you may know, Smith's (Kroger) has another mega event going on! So many great stock up deals!
These first two photos were from trip #1. I bought them together to use the mega 10 deal. The first picture however, was for another family that wanted to see what I could do with $10.00. Sadly, they were out of the FREE Playtex tampons that day, so I didn't get quite as much for them as I'd hoped, but am still happy with what I got.

HINT: Another time I wish I'd listened to my instincts and waited till we hit Walmart!
The Payson store has Lindt bars on rollback for $2.23. So, just $.23 each with the coupon!!!

This is what I got this morning at Smith's.

I also hit Walmart both times. I got me some fabulous new bras! Oh the simple things! They were an excellent price! I also got a couple other things.

I took advantage of the Triaminic $3 coupon at Walmart. If you haven't used yours yet, get to it! This is an awesome savings!
Oh, and I totally splurged and got me some pens, the kind I really like and the only ones that are comfortable in these silly arthritic hands of mine. I've decided recently that I am worth these little pleasures. :)

Patriotism... Recycled

A strange title, I know. The kids and I enjoyed our family time together this evening while Daddy was at basketball. For our activity, we made cards and decorations for Veterans' Day next week. We have a lot of military in our family that have served and so we made cute cards for them and also for neighbors and friends.
We had such a lovely time! A very cool aspect to it; Everything we used was from recycling bins or school dumpsters! Paper, scissors, glue, markers, and stickers! I am so grateful for our soldiers and those who support them. I am grateful that I live in a country where I am free to climb into the garbage and pull out beautiful creativity!

Week Long Fiscal Fast

Hey kids! Sorry I have been MIA for so long! My mom was in the hospital and then I broke my foot and then I had surgery for something else this last Tuesday. Things have been crazy! I've done a little bit of necessity shopping and some scavenging here and there but I am seriously jonesing for a financial fix! I will be doing some serious shopping this Wednesday, so stay tuned!!!
So the hubs and I collected coupon inserts today to sell. Totally scored big! It is so nice when he is home to help, especially since I'm still pretty sore; it's nice to have him jump in the bins and give me a little break. :)
I'm sitting here sorting and counting the inserts and watching a new to me show on Netflix: Extreme Cheapskates. It is so right up my alley! Some of it is a little much for me. I just can't do cloth toilet paper!!! Even I have my limits!! I am super excited however, about this WEEK LONG FISCAL FAST idea!
The gist is this: 4-7 times each year, spend NO MONEY for an ENTIRE WEEK!!! Absolutely NONE!! I am crazy excited to try this!! Especially where we have the indulgent holidays coming quickly, this is an ideal time to save a bit in preparation for Christmas spending! And then, do another fast right after New Years! What a lovely, cleansing idea! I am going to sit down with the family tonight and figure out which week this month will be our first fast. Stay tuned for details!!!
