Old Navy's Fabulous Memorial Day Sale!

On the advice of my super savvy clothing shopper sister in law, I hit up the Old Navy sale today. Wow!! So many great deals!! My budget was $30 and I made out like a bandit, spending just $25.60!!
The flip flops are for my daughter. They are actually from the boys' section but looked pretty unisex to me. They were marked down to $1.99 each but today there was an extra 30% savings off certain items which made them $1.39 per pair!
LOTS of ladies' clothing, shoes and bags were on clearance and today there was an extra 50% off clearance prices!! These kinds of savings will go through Memorial Day but the percentage changes daily.
This gray tee was just $3.74 and the cream one was $2.99. (both after extra discount)
This fabulous ruffled skirt was $4.24 after extra discount and this long sleeved black sweater was just $4.74, regularly $36.50!!!
The zippered leggings I got for $.98. The black pencil skirt was $4.49.
I am so thrilled with how well I did and grateful to my sis in law for her insights, guidance, and for helping me stick to my budget!
There was quite a bit of variety and selection. You will have to be willing to dig though!
There are many special Memorial Day prices that are not clearance but still great deals and well-worth checking out!

Thursday Shopping Report

I ran into a few bumps and hiccups today. My coupon mojo seems to be a bit off. But this game comes with lots of learning experiences and I do love learning! :) I hit a few stores to take advantage of different deals. Overall I did well.

I am so in love with Buy Low Market! Look at all this produce! And I only spent $14.36!
You definitely want to hit Buy Low on Wednesday or Thursday to get the most amazing produce deals.
Here's what we got:
Bananas .59/lb
Cantaloupe 3lb/$1
Jonagold Apples 2 lb/$1
1 lb Baby Carrots .79
Mushrooms 8 oz $1.50
Green Onions 4/$1
Cucumbers 3/$1

Green Bell Pepper 4/$1
Oranges 5 lb/$1
Nectarines $1/lb

Next was Walgreen's. I grabbed the Fusion Razor Gift pack, on sale for $9.89. I used a $4 off coupon and earned $5 in Register Rewards.
The milk is on for $1.99. Sadly, I found out that I couldn't use Register Rewards toward dairy. :( So I went ahead and paid for them and now have $5 RR to use next week.

At Rite Aid, I took advantage of the Conair/Scunci hair products deal twice. (Buy any $10 Conair or Scunci hair products, earn $5 +UP rewards).
I used the $10 in total rewards to buy some Ortho Weed B Gone and a Pump Sprayer and one pack of Orbit Gum, on sale for $1.00. I used a -.25 Orbit Gum Rite Aid Video Values coupon toward it.
Percentage wise this was not an amazing score. I did it anyway though because these were all things that I needed, yes, even the gum, and these were the best deals I had found on them in some time.

Finally, I stopped at Fresh Market to grab 2 heads of Leaf Lettuce at .99 each.

Total spent today: $65
Leftover weekly balance: $10
That's another $10 in the Disneyland fund! :)

Product Review: Atkins Products

So I stocked up on Atkins products during Macey's sale last week. I have actually been on the plan for almost 3 weeks now. I was using Slim Fast for two years and it worked really well but I had hit a plateau about 2 months ago and couldn't break through it. Plus I was just tired of Slim Fast.
It was at that time that I discovered the FREE Atkins samples online. I received them in the mail and read through the literature and then thought about it for at least a week, finally deciding to give it a go. I must say I have really enjoyed this program. Yes, it is a bit restrictive, but I have found that it just sparks my creativity in that department, having to come up with new foods and recipes that fit in the program but that I also enjoy.
I am loving how efective it is at curbing cravings and am of course thrilled about the 4 pounds I have lost. I started in "Phase 2," with more food options but slower weight loss. I am so glad to finally be moving in the right direction again! I have just 8 pounds till my goal!

I have tried several of the Atkins products and find them to be satisfying and tasty. My favorites are the Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Caramel Nut Roll, and Strawberry Shakes. I did not like the Chocolate or Vanilla shakes. I had to blend them with water as they had a super thick, almost curdled consistency.
The Daybreak snacks are super yummy and give you the feeling of eating cookies or fruity bread. Great for a morning snack.
If you missed the Macey's sale, never fear! Walgreen's has a deal this week; Atkins products B1G1 FREE!!
-$1/1 Atkins Shakes multipack
-$1/1 Atkins Bars multipack
Both of these coupons came out this last Sunday. I am going to Walgreen's today to take advantage of this deal and plan to pay for it with Register Rewards from the current Huggies Deal.
Huggies Jumbo Pack Diapers, Pull-Ups or GoodNites 2/$18
Earn $3 RR
-$2/1 Huggies any one package of Little Snugglers or Little Movers Diapers
= $5.50 each!!

Walgreen's and Saver's

Today I hit two Walgreen's to get my sugar free Royal gelatin at 5/$1 (limit of 5 per customer) and Potting Soil at .99 each (limit of 3). I love that Walgreen's has stores up and down State street. Grab your limit at one store and just cruise down to the next one for more!

I was up in Orem to hit Saver's Monday sale. Blue tags are 50% off and Green tags are .99. I needed shorts and t-shirts for my daughter and capris and shorts for myself. I found so many great deals, with the help of my sis in law who is a pro at scouting the second hand stores.

We did so well and for all of these clothes, which are in fabulous condition, I paid just $27.20. I love Saver's on Monday! If you go, do your best to get there first thing in the morning for best selection and be ready to hunt!

Today at Walmart.. Clearance Clothing!

Today the kids and I have been taking it easy. I am getting over a nasty cold and sore throat and am sick of having run around rushing days! So today we had a nice slow morning and then finally got things going. The only shopping we did was at Walmart. My intent was just to grab a b-day gift for my mom in law. At the front of the store by the registers though, were several racks of clearance ladies clothing!! I had to take a gander when I saw the price; $1.00!!! The most expensive things were just $2. I got several great tops and a pair of leggings. I was thrilled! I have lost 60 pounds now, if I may take a moment to toot my own horn (TOOT!! TOOT!!!)  and so I am in dire need of some new clothes but I am of course a total penny pincher and so this deal was just perfectly timed! I also grabbed two clearance necklaces to accessorize my new items.

I am so excited to play dress up and to mix and match the new stuff with things I already have. :) You can be fashionable on a budget! I promise! It is possible!!!
I also grabbed a couple other things and took advantage of a Hidden Valley deal I came up with.

The mushrooms were $1.49. The Hidden Valley Ranch (24 oz) was on rollback for $2.98. I wanted regular lite ranch but they were out of stock so I grabbed Buttermilk lite. Might as well have some variety now and then. :)  I used (2) -$1/1 Hidden Valley coupons. The Carefree liners were .94 and I used a -$1 coupon to get it for FREE. The Reach Floss was .88 and I of course used a -$1 coupon to get it FREE also.
I grabbed a fabulous coupon from a tear pad at Macey's the other day for $1 off any fresh produce wyb 2 Hidden Valley Ranch Dressings. So I used that to get my .89 bunch of Red Leaf Lettuce for FREE!
What a fun little shopping adventure!
Yes, I know I have a million things of Reach Floss... but as long as they are going to keep being FREE, I am going to keep picking them up! Same with the Carefree liners! :) FREE is for me!

Deal of the Day UPDATE!

So my friends, I must apologize about today's Deal. The coupon I referred to was not the right one. It did not include Honey Nut Cheerios. There is an online print available though, specifically for Honey Nut, -.55/1, at Coupons.com.
I just called into my local Macey's and found out they are out of stock. No surprise since this was a great price and today is the last day of the sale. But...... Yay!!! They do RAIN CHECKS!!! So after my church activity this evening, I am going to hit them up for a raincheck! I suggest you do the same if you also missed out. Just visit the Customer Service Desk.

Today's Shopping Report

I hit the recycling bins this morning and was sadly disappointed. I will have to try back again tomorrow.
I also made quick stops at Macey's and Fresh Market to grab a couple of things on the sale that ends today. I have been super busy the last few days and finally had the chance to get in there.
At Macey's, here is what I took advantage of:

 The Broccoli was just .69/lb.
The Old Orchard frozen juice is 5/$5.
The large tub of whipped topping is $1.69.
I grabbed 4 of the WF sugar free Gelatin at .50 each. I know that is way more than I normally would spend on jell-o, but I missed the deal at Rite Aid the other week and needed jell-o. Don't you just hate when that happens??
Total Spent: $10.72

We also hit Fresh Market.

The Frozen Orange Juice was .99 with a limit of 6.
The Yogurts were 4/$1 with a limit of 12.
The Squash was .99/lb.
Total Spent: $12.26

Tomorrow I will be hitting Smith's, Buy Low and Macey's again. I am pretty happy at this point with storage levels. So for now I am working on replenishing as needed and then jumping on amazing deals when they hit. I'm hoping that at this point I'll be able to save more money from my weekly budget to put toward Disneyland. We shall see!

Yesterday's Marathon!

Hello! I have been crazy busy the last two days! Finally getting a chance to sit down and document yesterday's adventure.
I hit 4 stores and had a very productive time. I left the kids with my sis in law. That really helped! Walmart was first. I hit the Orem store. Sadly, there wasn't much available of what I went there to acquire. Note to self: get there first thing in the morning next time!

I did get a few goodies; 4 FREE Speed Stick deodorants, 1 FREE Colgate toothbrush, 1 FREE Yakisoba noodles, 2 packs of string cheese @ $2.48 each and a cucumber for .49. I needed Atkins shakes and bars and Walmart does have the best price, so I went ahead and used $1 off coupons to get each of them at $3.49 each.
After Walmart, I headed up to the next exit and make a lovely little haul at Target.

The only deal I had planned to take advantage of at Target was actually the Degree deodorant for women. I was going to ad match it with Walgreen's at 2.49 but was pleased to find that Target had this fun new Degree deodorant for $2.48 each. I used my mfr $1 coupons stacked with Target's $1 off coupons to get 4 deodorants at .48 each.
I also grabbed the Reach floss that I had wanted at Walmart. Target had them for .97 each and had plenty of stock. I grabbed 13. All FREE!
The Halls cough drops were a fun surprise. They retailed $1.19. I had a .50 off Target coupon that I stacked with my mfr .75 off coupon. Made all four FREE!
I ad matched my Wrigley's 5 gum with Walgreen's at 2/$2. I used my Target coupons for -$1/2 off all 4, making them .50 each. Much better than the Target retail price of $1.27 each! They are my hubby's favorite gum. If I keep buying them, he won't have a chance to buy them at full price. :)
Here's a fun one I put together while I was there. The Sunchips were $3 each. I had $1 off Target Web coupons plus I had the new -$2/2 Sunchips coupons that came  in this Sunday's inserts. Using the coupons made the chips a lovely $1 each. It didn't end there though. Also in this Sunday's ad, was a coupon for a FREE 2 liter bottle of Sierra Mist wyb 2 bags Sunchips. So yeah, I got 2 bottles FREE. There was only 1 bottle on the shelf of the one shown on the coupon. I went ahead and brought a bottle of regular Sierra mist with me up to the service desk and very politely asked if it could be substituted since they didn't have any more. The friendly associate made it work for me. Being nice pays off!
Another surprise find; Kellogg's Crunchy Nut cereal. It was on sale for $2.50. I had a $1 off coupon. :)
My adventure at Target netted my best haul of the day as far as value. Total Retail Value: $60.70
Total Spent: $10.71

Next I hit Smith's next. It was the last day of the 10/$10 mix and match sale and I wanted to take advantage of the $1 Peanut Butter. I grabbed 10 of them. I was also pleased to find Chicken of the Sea tuna at 2/$1. I grabbed 4 of them. Wish I had more in my budget to have stocked up! I grabbed an avacado at .68 and 2 Green bell peppers at .68 each. Sadly, I bought a celery stalk at $1.29, only to find out later that Macey's had it for just .99. :(
I grabbed 3 loaves of bread at just .79 each. I also grabbed 2 pounds of bananas at .52/lb, an unheard of price at Smiths! As good as Walmart. I like buying things at Smith's if the price is good rather than Walmart because it earns me points toward gas discounts.
Another thing on my long list of likes about Smith's; they have clearance Salad. Most other places just chuck it when it's close to sell by date. Smith's just puts it on clearance. I was happy to grab what are normally very expensive blends of greens at $1.29 for the one and $1.69 for the other.
I spent $22.52 and figure I got around 2 or 3 times that in grocery value.

My last stop was Macey's in Provo.

They had tons of the Fuze drinks left! I'm amazed that there weren't more people taking advantage of the deal. Maybe people just couldn't find enough coupons; great to be a dumpster diver!
The Santitas were 2/$3. I have enough now to keep us happy for at least 6 or more months. The Cluster Tomatoes were on sale for $1.59/lb. It was the best price I had seen in some time so I jumped on it.
There is of course, a $.10 better deal this week.... such is life. :)
 I spent $13.53 there.
The total I spent today at all 4 stores: This leaves me with $13.55 in my weekly budget to take advantage of the Cottonelle Walgreen's deal. I should be able to get 2 more 12 roll packs and have $5 bucks left over to put in the Disneyland fund. I am feeling so great about sticking to my weekly budget! ($75 for grocery, $25 for household needs)
I am realizing that I am at a point in this game where my storage is pretty close to where I want it to be and from here on out, it will be a matter of replenishing. That is, except for toilet paper and baby wipes. I need to build those up, but everything else is about to quota.
So I am making a commitment to myself that from now on I will only get things at the most extreme discounts possible to add to my storage. We'll see how it goes! And whatever money is left each week will be divided equally between paying off our small credit card balance and saving up for an amazing Disneyland trip!
This effort really does pay off! I know anyone and all of you can do it!!! I'm here to help if you have questions! Please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Walgreen's and Buy Low report

I hit the Provo Walgreen's first. It is interesting to see which items each Walgreen's orders enough of. The one in Provo had plenty of the $2 Gumm Flossers on a side cap right across from the item's home. No limits. I grabbed two. They were all out though, of the Tylenol Precise pads and the Cottonelle toilet paper.
I called the Springville Walmart and they informed me that they had plenty of Cottonelle. I hit Buy Low in Provo to grab some veggies and then hit Springville. The Springville Walgreen's had no Cottonelle on the shelf but plenty in back. ALWAYS ASK!!! Springville also had about 5 of the Tylenol precise on the shelf, pushed way back. I grabbed two. They were totally out of the Gum flossers however and there is a limit of 2 when they do get more in.

 Between the two Walgreen's I was able to get the things I really wanted;
Cottonelle Toilet Paper $4 ea  Earn $3 RR wyb 2, Earn $4 RR wyb 3. I did the math and it's actually .16 cheaper per package if you do 2 at a time. I will be getting more at the Provo store tomorrow as they are getting a shipment in. There will be a limit of 4 per customer.
-.50/1 online coupon
-$1 off store coupon (May coupon booklet)
Tylenol Precise $7.99 ea
-$3 off Walgreen's coupon (May coupon booklet)
-$5 off tylenol precise online coupon= FREE
Milk $1.99 ea (well stocked in both stores)
Scotch Tape .39 w/in-ad coupon (This product is not hanging on a peg but rather is down in a bin. Took me a minute to find it. Both stores had plenty in stock)
Wall-dryl Allergy B1G1 @ $3.49 ea (both stores had enough of this to go around)
Gum eeze-thru Flossers $2.00  Earn $2.00 RR= FREE
Total Retail Value $ 61.75
Total Spent  $20.12
I am not thrilled with my savings percentage here. I know that if I was able to get everything at one store, I would have been able to get a better deal by using my rewards more strategically. Such is the nature of the game. I am happy to have gotten several things that I have been needing and to get them at great prices! Must stay positive!
Ps. Both stores were out of the Right Guard 5 deodorant and body wash and also the Noxema razors, and the 13.5 oz Head and Shoulders. :(

At Buy Low, I wasn't thrilled with what I found sale wise. I hadn't had a chance to check out their ad online before I went into town so I had no idea what there might be. I got a few things but the rest of my produce I will grab at Macey's as they have a couple of good things ending tomorrow.

 The Green Cabbage was .59/lb.
Zucchini .79/lb.
cauliflower .69/lb.
yellow squash  3 lb/$1
Mushrooms 2/$3
Cilantro 2/$1
I spent just $7.79.

I won't be hitting Buy Low's produce sale this week. It isn't worth the gas to head into town 3 times in one week. In case you want to though, here's what you'll find:
Wednesday & Thursday only:
Strawberries $1 per lb
Cucumbers 4/$1
yellow onion 4 lb/$1
Italian Squash 2 lb/ $1
Pink Grapefruit 3/$1
Pippin Apples 3 lb/$1
I'm going to check the produce prices at Walmart tomorrow and will see if they are any better on any of these. You can always ad match them. :)
