IFA Country Stores

If you haven't already noticed this in yesterday's mail, I hope you didn't throw it out!!!
IFA's ad includes a coupon for $.01 June or Everbearing Strawberry plant!!! One per household and must redeem coupon.

They also have the following good deals:

Cushion Grip Yard tools $1.49

American Seed Packets 10/$1

10 oz Bag Balm $5.89
I LOVE this product!!!!! Great for dry skin and lips! Not just for animals!  ;)

Vet Wrap $1.99
Good for people too. Come in lots of fun colors. Won't stick to hair or skin. No clips or pins needed!

All toys 20% off!
I found some tubes of assortments of small, detailed animal collections near the registers. Super cute! Great gift! Retail was like $7.99 or so. With discount, it's around $6.40. I know that sounds pricey, especially for me, but these are top quality and we really like them.

Happy Shopping!!!

Deal of the Day!

Today's deal is at Rite Aid:

Buy Scunci hair bands @ $1.99
Earn $1.99 +UP rewards that you can redeem the following morning.

Like getting it FREE!!!

$5 Meal: Taco Salad

Here's today's $5 meal idea:
Remember that all ingredients are from current and past sales, utilizing your stockpile/food storage whenever possible!

1 Bagged Salad .99 (clearance salad at Smith's)

1 can Western Family Chili con Carne .39 ea (about 2 months ago @ Stokes)

1 bag Santita's tortilla chips $1.49 (@ Smith's; last week's 3 day only sale)

Kraft Ranch Dressing $1.49 (@ Macey's; current sale)

For cheese, you should have taken advantage of all the recent awesome deals! There have been too many to mention!
I grabbed the 5 lb bags at Smith's (used -.25/2lb online coupons) and broke it up into small freezer bags.

Add the cheese and you should be right at $5.00!!

If you need to use one more can of chili, keep in mind that we already bought dressing for yesterday's meal so technically you don't have to consider the full purchase price into today's total. Thus leaving enough $ to cover the extra chili. ;)

$5 Meals

I was asked recently if I could really provide a meal for my family for less than it would cost to grab a Hot and Ready pizza from Little Ceaser's. My fellow couponers of course know that is totally possible!
I am going to be providing $5 or less meal ideas regularly now. They will be made up of items that should be in your storage from previous coupon match-ups or deals and also current sale/coupon items. These meals are designed to feed a family of 4. If you have teenagers, you would likely double it. But then you'd probably have to get another $5 pizza too if you were taking that route.
Tonight's $5 menu:

Spaghetti with ground turkey

Barilla Whole Grain Wheat Spaghetti noodles $1 at Fresh Market (around 2 months ago)
-$1/2 Barilla pastas= $.50

Ragu pasta Sauce $.75 @ Macey's wyb 10 (current sale)

Jenni-O Ground Turkey $1 (frozen;Fresh Market's meat clearance section, 2 months ago)

Red Leaf Lettuce .69 @ Rancho Market (last week's sale)

Roma Tomatoes 3 lb/$1 @ Rancho Market (current sale)

Kraft 16 oz Dressing $1.50 @ Macey's (current sale)

Total approximate cost: $4.84

This meal is a good example of how to use/rotate your stockpile/food storage. As often as possible, mix ingredients from storage with current sale items to maximize your savings and to ensure that none of your storage goes bad.
You CAN feed your family healthy food on a budget!

Smith's.. Going bananas!

I've mentioned this before but now and I am even more excited than before! Smith's is great about marking down their produce. Rather than just throwing it out right away like most other stores, as soon
as they are nearing the sell by date, Smith's gives you the chance at a great deal and keeps the produce from going to waste.
I realized today that they even do this with fruit, not just with the bagged salads I had seen and bought before.
I found fabulous bananas at the Payson Smith's and was thrilled to open a couple and find they had just reached the perfect ripeness. Smith's likes having perfect looking produce so when there is even a brown mark, away it must go! And in I sweep to reap the benefits!
I found a metal stand in the back corner of the produce department where they put clearance produce. The bananas I found right next to the full price fruit. It was so cheap and such great quality!
I highly recommend checking it out! Fresh fruit and veggies are so good for you and your family but can be so expensive. With Smith's great clearance and Rancho Market's always amazing deals, there is no excuse to not have your house stocked with great fresh food!!!

Finished project

I finished a little project this morning that has been waiting for many, many moons to get done. It is a nice feeling.
The coolest part about it.... The adjustable broom hanger and the drill I used to attach it to the wall.. wait for it...
both came from the dumpsters!!!

Since I haven't been doing any exciting shopping this week, I have turned my energies to other things, like the miles long list of great things we've started here. The weather is inspiring me! I will be working on the patio today then might do some more metal scouting. I used yesterday's metal earnings to buy a nice big push broom!
On to the next item on my wish list!

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

While waiting..

You may have noticed that there are no great deals this week. I haven't done any shopping and was itching for a fix, so I've been loading up all of my metal scrap into the van to salvage tomorrow. Trying to earn the money for a hair cut and style.
I've found several good pieces while driving around lately. It's that time of year and people are putting their junk out on the curb. Don't miss out! Stop and grab it! Free money!!!
I found a broken outdoor lamp today on my way home from the gym. It had huge metal palm leaves for the shade and two were already broken off. I broke the rest off easily and they make for lovely yard art! The rest is going to salvage.

On another subject, I have jumped right into spring cleaning this week. Working on the inside and outside of the house. So much to do!!
Yard sale season is fast approaching! Are you going through your things, gathering your yard sale inventory? Now is the time to start prepping!

I also hit the recycling bins today. The score wasn't amazing, but it was good to be out hunting in this lovely weather! Feeling the diving bug coming back as the sun is shining brighter and warmer! The schools will be clearing stuff out really soon! Keep your eye on their dumpsters for great finds!!

What other productive, money making/saving things can you do while we wait for another exciting sale??

I am going to hit Rancho Market tomorrow for some great produce sales. I can always count on them to have something worth getting my wallet out for!
