Hello! I have been crazy busy the last two days! Finally getting a chance to sit down and document yesterday's adventure.
I hit 4 stores and had a very productive time. I left the kids with my sis in law. That really helped! Walmart was first. I hit the Orem store. Sadly, there wasn't much available of what I went there to acquire. Note to self: get there first thing in the morning next time!
I did get a few goodies; 4 FREE Speed Stick deodorants, 1 FREE Colgate toothbrush, 1 FREE Yakisoba noodles, 2 packs of string cheese @ $2.48 each and a cucumber for .49. I needed Atkins shakes and bars and Walmart does have the best price, so I went ahead and used $1 off coupons to get each of them at $3.49 each.
After Walmart, I headed up to the next exit and make a lovely little haul at Target.
The only deal I had planned to take advantage of at Target was actually the Degree deodorant for women. I was going to ad match it with Walgreen's at 2.49 but was pleased to find that Target had this fun new Degree deodorant for $2.48 each. I used my mfr $1 coupons stacked with Target's $1 off coupons to get 4 deodorants at .48 each.
I also grabbed the Reach floss that I had wanted at Walmart. Target had them for .97 each and had plenty of stock. I grabbed 13. All FREE!
The Halls cough drops were a fun surprise. They retailed $1.19. I had a .50 off Target coupon that I stacked with my mfr .75 off coupon. Made all four FREE!
I ad matched my Wrigley's 5 gum with Walgreen's at 2/$2. I used my Target coupons for -$1/2 off all 4, making them .50 each. Much better than the Target retail price of $1.27 each! They are my hubby's favorite gum. If I keep buying them, he won't have a chance to buy them at full price. :)
Here's a fun one I put together while I was there. The Sunchips were $3 each. I had $1 off Target Web coupons plus I had the new -$2/2 Sunchips coupons that came in this Sunday's inserts. Using the coupons made the chips a lovely $1 each. It didn't end there though. Also in this Sunday's ad, was a coupon for a FREE 2 liter bottle of Sierra Mist wyb 2 bags Sunchips. So yeah, I got 2 bottles FREE. There was only 1 bottle on the shelf of the one shown on the coupon. I went ahead and brought a bottle of regular Sierra mist with me up to the service desk and very politely asked if it could be substituted since they didn't have any more. The friendly associate made it work for me. Being nice pays off!
Another surprise find; Kellogg's Crunchy Nut cereal. It was on sale for $2.50. I had a $1 off coupon. :)
My adventure at Target netted my best haul of the day as far as value. Total Retail Value: $60.70
Total Spent: $10.71
Next I hit Smith's next. It was the last day of the 10/$10 mix and match sale and I wanted to take advantage of the $1 Peanut Butter. I grabbed 10 of them. I was also pleased to find Chicken of the Sea tuna at 2/$1. I grabbed 4 of them. Wish I had more in my budget to have stocked up! I grabbed an avacado at .68 and 2 Green bell peppers at .68 each. Sadly, I bought a celery stalk at $1.29, only to find out later that Macey's had it for just .99. :(
I grabbed 3 loaves of bread at just .79 each. I also grabbed 2 pounds of bananas at .52/lb, an unheard of price at Smiths! As good as Walmart. I like buying things at Smith's if the price is good rather than Walmart because it earns me points toward gas discounts.
Another thing on my long list of likes about Smith's; they have clearance Salad. Most other places just chuck it when it's close to sell by date. Smith's just puts it on clearance. I was happy to grab what are normally very expensive blends of greens at $1.29 for the one and $1.69 for the other.
I spent $22.52 and figure I got around 2 or 3 times that in grocery value.
My last stop was Macey's in Provo.
They had tons of the Fuze drinks left! I'm amazed that there weren't more people taking advantage of the deal. Maybe people just couldn't find enough coupons; great to be a dumpster diver!
The Santitas were 2/$3. I have enough now to keep us happy for at least 6 or more months. The Cluster Tomatoes were on sale for $1.59/lb. It was the best price I had seen in some time so I jumped on it.
There is of course, a $.10 better deal this week.... such is life. :)
I spent $13.53 there.
The total I spent today at all 4 stores: This leaves me with $13.55 in my weekly budget to take advantage of the Cottonelle Walgreen's deal. I should be able to get 2 more 12 roll packs and have $5 bucks left over to put in the Disneyland fund. I am feeling so great about sticking to my weekly budget! ($75 for grocery, $25 for household needs)
I am realizing that I am at a point in this game where my storage is pretty close to where I want it to be and from here on out, it will be a matter of replenishing. That is, except for toilet paper and baby wipes. I need to build those up, but everything else is about to quota.
So I am making a commitment to myself that from now on I will only get things at the most extreme discounts possible to add to my storage. We'll see how it goes! And whatever money is left each week will be divided equally between paying off our small credit card balance and saving up for an amazing Disneyland trip!
This effort really does pay off! I know anyone and all of you can do it!!! I'm here to help if you have questions! Please don't hesitate to ask. :)
