Today's Hunting!

The kids and I ran the rounds today of Spanish Fork and Mapleton school bins. There wasn't much until I hit Rees, my always rewarding spot. They sure are wasteful! :/ It made the hunt worthwhile at least.

 I have yet to sort and process but you can see here that I got tons of file shelves.

And the find of the day, nay, the find of the week! This size 2x snowboarding coat!! It is in perfect condition!!! Even clean! I just love these kinds of finds!!

After my diving, I headed into Springville to pick up some money from a client. I noticed that The Wandering Wardrobe (I store I hadn't been into before) was having a yard sale. I had been planning to head to either D.I. or Saver's this afternoon to look for shorts for myself and my two daughters. No need now! It took a lot of hunting through the unorganized piles, but I found some serious treasures!!
Skirts, shorts and shirts for all three of us girls! Not only that, the box of Avent Bottles (BRAND NEW!!) that the guy said I could have for just $.25!! When I checked out though, the girl knocked off the change so I got them FREE!! Those and a nice pair of maternity pants are among the items I will resell online.
This store specializes in name brand clothing so everything they had was top of the line and it was selling for just $1 each!! If I had had a bigger budget, I would have grabbed several more armloads of resell items!
They told me they will be doing another yard sale like this one next month. I'll be keeping track of their FB page to see when. I highly recommend you do too!!!

Another lesson learned & an investment

I woke in the middle of the night last night to the dreaded sound of rain outside! Normally, in the parched desert I live in, it would be a welcome sound. Last night however, all of my inventory was out on the patio, uncovered! I threw on a t-shirt and ran outside with husband sleepily following behind. Both of us half dressed, half awake, half crazy trying to get things in the house or get them covered.
This morning I was able to assess the damage and was grateful to find that it wasn't too bad. I sometimes learn quickly, thankfully, and heeded James' words of advice. He said that I need to treat this business like a real business, meaning that some of my profits need to go back into the business in the form of wise investments. So we packed up the kids and headed off to Home Depot. I spent $200 (ouch!) and got plywood and other supplies. James has begun this new labor of love, building me an inventory shed!
I'm going to hit the re-use store to look for paint and shingles. Trying to keep the budget to $300 or less. You know how I am about spending money, but I really feel like this is a wise investment in the future.
In the wee hours, as I was soaked and feeling depressed, I wondered if this was all really worth it. But it hit me pretty hard that few people can say they love what they do these days. And yes, dirty, sweaty, and gross as it sometimes is, I LOVE what I do! So yes, I will keep on plugging away at it and now I will have a strong, beautiful little shed to store my inventory.

 It's raining and cool tonight, but it was HOT when he was working. Hence the slushy. :)

My new discovery!

I had heard that the Reams in Springville had some cool deals but I had never bothered to see what was what. Well, I took my kids and the ones I babysit up Hobble Creek Canyon for a walk this morning and was planning to head into Provo after to grab some produce. The Big Prep Day!

This Saturday is my yard sale extravaganza! I have been steadily working toward being ready for it for several weeks. Tomorrow is my big prep day! It is definitely a lot of work but it is so worth it to me!
I've also been getting tons of stuff listed on ebay and ksl. I just love getting the text messages from paying customers! Especially when it's something I found in the bins or dumpsters! Such satisfaction!
After yesterday's family cleaning day, my cluttered, messy office was standing out like a sore thumb! I have spent the last few hours working on it and it just feels wonderful! I found things I forgot I had and tons more stuff for the yard sale.
I promised myself and James that my little business would never take over our home and I have done a pretty great job at that. There is always room for improvement though! We have a wasted piece of concrete on the side of our house. It is my new storage location which has freed up the office, shed, and attic. I'm working on getting the supplies to have James build me a nice little shed of my own over there so I can sell and store all year without filling up the shed or attic.
I've decided this is definitely a long term thing I have going here. I don't want to get a 'real job,' but I have lots that I want to do with my family and with my home. This is the way to do it! I know it isn't for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoy it.
I do need to be more organized though. I am working on a filing system of some kind so I can always find what I need when I need it and so I know what I have. I worked in retail for a long time so I'm thinking I'll set it up the way we did things at Walmart..... I'll let y'all know when I get it done!
Suffice it to say that today there has been a lot of progress made and a lot more progress is coming soon!
I can hardly wait for Saturday!!!

Woohoo!!! Today in the bins and such

I hit Shopko's clearance plants today! There is a great selection of healthy plants at rock bottom prices! Don't miss out!! I grabbed some for my backyard project.

After Shopko, I hit the recycling bin to grab some things I had seen there last night while on our family bike ride. I was thrilled to find way more than I expected! I had to jump in to get all of it. So glad I had my step stool and sneakers this time! If you're going to dive, come prepared!!!

I found several bundles of ads from yesterday's paper. I also found binders and loads of great college text books! On top of that, I also found guitar books of sheet music from Weezer, Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks! All money! I just feel so blessed!

If that all weren't enough, here's what I got in the mail today:

A coupon for $8 off a Venus with Olay razor AND  a coupon for a FREE can of shave gel! It just so happens that this brand of razor is on clearance at the Payson Wal mart for just over $7 or so. I will be earning a bit on this one!
